Celebrating 100 Years of League Play

1969-2068

The League started in February of 2001 and more than 13 years and 100 sim seasons later, history is made.  It all  started with Matt Skutley putting together an online league with OOTP3 and gathering a group online players to make up the initial 1969 season.

As you look through this web site you'll see how it all got started and to some long time owners it will brng back some memories and how primitive the game seemed in those early years.  Of course we would not be here today without the dedication and hard work of the original league officers, and all of those who put it the time to keep it strong.  My thanks go out to them in establishing the #1 online baseball league in the world.

There has been one team, the Minnesota Twins that has had the same owner all 100 seasons and is also the only owner a part of all 100 CDL seasons, Paul Groenig.  Paul has been a huge part of the CDL's success throughout the league's 100 year history.

As of 2068 only 4 owners are still active that were original members of the CDL when it started in the year 1969.  Of course Paul, his brother Chuck Groenig, league creator Matt Skutley and current Rockies owner Terry Ladislas.

Matt was with the league from 1969 to 2002 and returned again in 2019 to present day all with the Milwaukee Brewers.  Terry was the Angels GM from 1969 to 1982, returned to the Angels again in 1996 until 2003 and has been the Rockies GM since 2021.  Chuck was with the Giants from 1969 to 2042, Oakland from 2048 to 2050 and back to his fav Giants from 2051 to present day.

I hope all of you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it, although I have never met any of you, I have known most of you for over 10 years, I would say we are friends that have at least one thing in common.

Although a league is only as good as its owners, quite a few from the past have gone above and beyond filling in as either Commisioner or Co-Commisioner.  Matt Skutley, Paul Groenig, Brian Marshall, Sam Stauder, Patrick Ayotte, Brian Wohldmann and many others that have did that little extra. If it was staying up a little later than you would have liked to or trying to explain to the wife or kids, this will only take a few more minutes, this Bud's for you, thank you!
